Humanitarian and Emergency Relief

At The Edge Foundation, we stand with communities during their darkest hours. Through our Humanitarian Relief Programme, we provide life-saving emergency assistance to families affected by natural disasters, pandemics, and targeted violence.

Our mission is to ensure that those facing unimaginable hardship receive immediate relief and the support needed to rebuild their lives.

Responding to Crises with Compassion and Action

When disaster strikes, the most vulnerable are often left without food, shelter, clean water, or medical care. In these critical moments, The Edge Foundation acts swiftly, mobilizing relief teams to deliver essential aid to those in desperate need.

From providing rations and protective gear during a pandemic to offering shelter and emergency supplies in flood-affected areas, we ensure that no one is left behind.

Emergency Support During the Jaranwala Attacks (August 2023)

Flood Relief Efforts (June-October 2022)

Between June and October 2022, Pakistan experienced one of the worst floods in its history, affecting over 33 million people and submerging one-third of the country. Thousands of families were displaced overnight, losing their homes, belongings, and livelihoods.

Recognizing the urgency, The Edge Foundation rapidly deployed relief teams, delivering:

COVID-19 Pandemic Response (2020-2022)

When the COVID-19 pandemic reached Pakistan in February 2020, it caused widespread economic and humanitarian crises. With strict lockdowns, millions of daily wage workers lost their incomes, leaving families struggling to afford food and medical care.

To help vulnerable communities survive, The Edge Foundation launched an extensive COVID-19 relief initiative, which included:

Sonia – Rebuilding After the Floods

When devastating floods swept through Kasur, Sonia and her family lost far more than their home—they lost their livelihood, their possessions and the security they had worked so hard to build. Sonia and her husband, Saab Masih, relied on daily wage work in the agricultural fields to provide for their three young children. When floodwaters destroyed the surrounding farmland, both immediately lost their only source of income. Their modest one-room home also suffered severe damage, forcing the family to flee with only a few belongings. Living in temporary shelter, Sonia worried constantly about her children's future. With schools closed due to the flooding, her two daughters were unable to continue their education. The family also struggled to obtain enough food, clean water and other basic necessities while trying to recover from the disaster.

During its emergency response, The EDGE Foundation visited affected communities to assess urgent needs and provide humanitarian assistance. Sonia's family received an emergency food package, helping them meet their immediate needs during an incredibly difficult period. Although the road to recovery remains challenging, the support provided reminded Sonia and her family that they had not been forgotten. Today, they continue working towards rebuilding their lives, hoping to restore their home, return their children to school and regain the stability they once enjoyed. Sonia's story reflects the resilience of countless families affected by natural disasters and highlights the importance of timely humanitarian assistance in helping vulnerable communities recover with dignity and hope.

Shabana – Hope After Losing Everything

For Shabana and her family, one night of devastating floods changed everything. As floodwaters rushed into their village in Kasur, the family's mud house collapsed, destroying almost everything they owned. Shabana and her husband, Faryad Masih, managed to rescue their four children, but they escaped with very few belongings as their home crumbled around them. The disaster also destroyed the agricultural land where Faryad worked as a daily wage labourer, leaving the family without both shelter and income. Forced to live under a temporary plastic shelter with only one bedding set between them, the family faced enormous uncertainty. Their children were unable to return to school, while Shabana also struggled to care for her elderly parents, whose home had likewise been destroyed by the floods.

When The EDGE Foundation visited the community, the team assessed the family's needs and provided emergency food assistance to help them through the immediate crisis. More importantly, the visit offered encouragement and reassurance that they were not facing the disaster alone. Like many flood-affected families, Shabana dreams of rebuilding a safe home where her children can continue their education and look forward to a brighter future. Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery takes time, but with compassion, practical support and community solidarity, families can begin to rebuild their lives after disaster. Through its Humanitarian & Emergency Relief Programme, The EDGE Foundation continues to stand alongside vulnerable families like Shabana's, providing hope and practical assistance when it is needed most.
