Bringing Hope and Joy to Vulnerable Families at Christmas
Christmas is a season of hope, love and generosity—a time to share God's love with those who need it most. For thousands of families living in poverty and bonded labour communities, however, Christmas often passes like any other day, marked by hardship, uncertainty and struggle.
Since launching our Christmas Project in 2018, The EDGE Foundation has been bringing the joy and hope of Christmas to vulnerable families across Pakistan. Each year, we distribute Christmas gifts to children and essential food packs to families, ensuring that they experience the love, compassion and dignity that this special season represents. Through the generosity of our supporters, thousands of children and families have been reminded that they are loved, valued and never forgotten.
Bringing Smiles to Children
For many children living in brick kiln communities, receiving a Christmas gift is an experience they have never known. Instead of enjoying childhood, many spend their days helping their families work under difficult conditions, with little opportunity for education or play. Our Christmas gift packs bring joy, encouragement and hope to these children while reminding them that they are precious in God's sight.
Each Christmas gift may include:

- Colouring books, pencils and educational resources that encourage creativity and learning.
- Dry fruits, sweets and festive treats that make Christmas a special and memorable occasion.

Providing Food for Families
No family should have to worry about hunger at Christmas. Through our Christmas food distribution programme, we provide vulnerable families with essential grocery packs containing staple food items to help them celebrate Christmas with dignity and peace of mind. These food packs not only meet immediate needs but also remind families that they are supported by a caring community that stands with them during difficult times.
Sharing the Love of Christ
Our Christmas Project is about far more than gifts and food. It is an opportunity to share the love, compassion and hope of Jesus Christ with families living in some of Pakistan's most disadvantaged communities. Every gift distributed, every food parcel delivered and every child who smiles reflects God's love in action.
Shazia – Hope for a Widow at Christmas
For Shazia, Christmas is a reminder of both loss and hope. After the death of her husband, Faryad Masih, from tuberculosis, Shazia was left to raise her three young children alone. With no support from her extended family, she became the sole provider, working as a domestic labourer whenever work was available. Her small and irregular income was barely enough to provide food, clothing and other basic necessities for her children. The family's financial hardship became so severe that her eldest son was forced to leave school and begin working to help support the household, while the younger children remained without access to education. During the winter months, even providing warm clothing and regular meals became a daily struggle.
During its Christmas outreach programme, The EDGE Foundation visited Shah Kot, Faisalabad, to distribute Christmas grocery packs to vulnerable families. Shazia's family was among those who received essential food supplies, bringing much-needed relief during one of the most difficult times of the year. For Shazia, the Christmas food package was more than a gift—it was a reminder that her family had not been forgotten. It eased the burden of providing meals for her children and allowed them to celebrate Christmas with renewed hope and dignity. Today, Shazia continues to dream of a brighter future where her children can return to school and build lives free from poverty. Through the generosity of supporters, The EDGE Foundation continues to stand alongside families like hers, bringing practical support, compassion and hope during the Christmas season.
Nabeela Mariam – A Mother's Strength in the Face of Adversity
When Nabeela Mariam lost her husband, Nadeem Masih, to a sudden heart attack, her world changed overnight. Left to raise four children on her own, she became the family's only provider. Working as a domestic worker, she struggled to earn enough to meet even the most basic household needs. Financial pressures eventually forced her eldest son to leave school and begin working as a daily labourer, while another child also had to abandon their education. Despite these challenges, Nabeela remained determined to provide a better future for her children, relying on faith, resilience and the hope that circumstances would one day improve.
At Christmas, The EDGE Foundation reached out to vulnerable families like Nabeela's by providing essential grocery packs. The support helped ease the family's immediate financial burden and allowed them to celebrate Christmas with greater peace of mind. Receiving the Christmas food package reminded Nabeela that she and her children were not alone in their struggle. While many challenges remain, the assistance brought practical relief and renewed hope during a season that celebrates God's love and compassion. Her story reflects the resilience of countless widows who continue to sacrifice everything for their children while looking forward to a brighter future.
Parveen Bibi – Finding Hope After Tragedy
Parveen Bibi never imagined that a single day would change her family's life forever. In September 2024, her husband, Younas Masih, was killed in a tragic road accident while returning home from Mariam Abad. His sudden death left Parveen alone to care for their six children, with no stable source of income and an uncertain future.
As financial pressures mounted, Parveen was forced to make heartbreaking decisions. Her twelve-year-old son began working at a brick kiln instead of attending school, while her eleven-year-old daughter left home to work as a live-in domestic worker. Every day became a struggle to provide food, pay rent and meet the family's basic needs while carrying the burden of outstanding debt. Recognising the family's urgent needs, The EDGE Foundation provided emergency food assistance and committed to ongoing monthly support to help Parveen and her children through this difficult period. For Parveen, the assistance represented far more than food. It restored hope at a time when she believed she had nowhere to turn. Knowing that others cared for her family's future gave her renewed strength to continue caring for her children despite overwhelming hardship. Today, Parveen continues to dream of a future where her children can return to education and enjoy the opportunities every child deserves. Through the kindness of supporters, families like hers are finding hope, dignity and the confidence to begin rebuilding their lives.
