Legal Aid

Defending Rights. Securing Justice.

Justice is a fundamental human right, yet for many vulnerable people in Pakistan, it remains out of reach. Religious minorities, women, children and other marginalised communities often face discrimination, false accusations, unlawful detention and human rights violations with limited access to legal protection or fair representation. Poverty, fear and a lack of resources leave many unable to defend their rights or seek justice through the courts.

At The EDGE Foundation, we believe that no one should be denied justice because of their faith, social background or financial circumstances. Through our Legal Aid Project, we provide free legal representation, advocacy and practical support to individuals and families facing persecution, discrimination and injustice. By removing financial barriers and standing alongside those in need, we help vulnerable people protect their rights, restore their dignity and rebuild their lives.

Our legal team works with victims of false accusations, forced conversions and marriages, child abductions, bonded labour, workplace discrimination, unlawful detention and other human rights abuses. Beyond the courtroom, we provide guidance, advocacy and practical assistance, ensuring that those affected are not left to face their legal battles alone. Every case we take represents more than a legal dispute—it represents a family seeking protection, a child longing to return home, or an innocent person fighting to reclaim their freedom. Our commitment is to ensure that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has access to justice and the opportunity to live with dignity and hope.

Why Legal Aid Matters

For thousands of vulnerable people across Pakistan, justice is often difficult to obtain. Many victims lack the financial means to hire a lawyer, while others face discrimination, intimidation or delays that prevent them from accessing fair legal proceedings. Without legal support, innocent people can remain imprisoned, families can be separated, and vulnerable women and children may remain trapped in situations of abuse or exploitation.

Religious minorities, particularly Christians, are disproportionately affected by many of these challenges. False accusations, forced conversions, child abductions, bonded labour, workplace discrimination and violence continue to affect individuals and families, leaving them isolated and without effective legal protection. The EDGE Foundation exists to bridge this gap by ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive professional legal assistance, compassionate support and a voice in the pursuit of justice.

How We Help

Our Legal Aid Project provides practical, professional and compassionate support tailored to the needs of each individual and family.

Human Rights Advocacy

Beyond individual cases, we work to raise awareness of legal rights, engage with national and international stakeholders, and advocate for stronger protections for vulnerable communities. Through strategic advocacy and public engagement, we seek to promote lasting legal and social change.Every case we undertake reflects our commitment to defending the vulnerable, challenging injustice and ensuring that no one is denied justice because of poverty, discrimination or fear.

Our Impact

Every legal case represents a life changed, a family protected and a step towards justice. Through the Legal Aid Project, The EDGE Foundation has stood alongside vulnerable individuals and families facing some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable.

Our legal intervention has helped:

While every case is unique, our commitment remains the same—to defend the vulnerable, uphold the rule of law and ensure that justice is accessible to everyone.

Lives We've Changed

Behind every legal case is a person, a family and a future worth protecting. These stories reflect the impact that timely legal intervention and compassionate support can have on people's lives.

Tabitha Masih – Reunited With Her Family

Twelve-year-old Tabitha Masih was abducted while walking home in Punjab, leaving her family devastated and desperate for help. Despite immediately reporting the incident, they struggled to receive an effective response and feared their daughter's case would be overlooked. The EDGE Foundation stepped in by providing legal representation, advocacy and financial assistance to support the family's pursuit of justice. Our legal team worked to ensure the case received the attention it deserved while continuing to press for Tabitha's safe recovery. Following sustained legal efforts and advocacy, Tabitha was successfully reunited with her family. Her rescue not only restored hope to her parents but also demonstrated how access to justice can make the difference between despair and a family's reunion.

Muskan Asghar – Standing Against Forced Conversion

In May 2023, fifteen-year-old Muskan Asghar was abducted from her home in Wazirabad and allegedly forced to convert and marry against her will. Her family sought help, but meaningful action was initially slow. The EDGE Foundation provided legal representation, financial assistance and continuous advocacy throughout the legal proceedings. After months of determined legal efforts, Muskan was safely reunited with her family. Although the family has continued to face threats and intimidation, we remain committed to supporting them as they pursue justice. Muskan's courage has become a symbol of resilience and highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable girls from forced conversions and child marriage.

Adil Masih – Freedom From Bonded Labour

Adil Masih spent months in illegal confinement at a brick kiln after becoming trapped in bonded labour. Separated from his family and suffering from serious kidney disease, his situation became increasingly critical. After his family approached The EDGE Foundation, our legal team immediately initiated legal proceedings before the High Court, challenging his unlawful detention and demanding his release. Following legal intervention, Adil regained his freedom and was reunited with his wife and young children, including a newborn son he had barely seen. His case demonstrates that legal aid is about far more than winning cases—it is about restoring freedom, protecting human dignity and giving families the opportunity to rebuild their lives with hope.

Beyond Legal Aid: Rehabilitation & Advocacy

Winning a legal case is often only the beginning of a family's journey. Many victims continue to face financial hardship, emotional trauma, security concerns and the challenge of rebuilding their lives. For this reason, The EDGE Foundation provides holistic support that extends beyond legal representation. Whenever possible, we help individuals and families access emergency assistance, temporary accommodation, education, livelihood support and rehabilitation services. We also work closely with community leaders, churches, human rights organisations and other partners to ensure that survivors receive the practical and emotional support they need to move forward with confidence and dignity. By addressing both the legal and humanitarian needs of vulnerable families, we help them recover from crisis and begin building a safer and more secure future

Standing for Justice Beyond Individual Cases

At The EDGE Foundation, we believe that lasting change requires more than representing individuals in court. Alongside providing legal aid, we work to address the wider issues that allow injustice and discrimination to continue. We engage with government institutions, human rights organisations, faith leaders, legal professionals and international partners to advocate for stronger legal protections, equal rights and greater accountability. Through research, awareness campaigns, policy engagement and strategic advocacy, we seek to influence positive change and strengthen the protection of vulnerable communities. We also educate individuals about their legal rights, helping them understand the protections available to them and empowering them to seek justice with confidence. By combining legal representation with advocacy and public awareness, we strive to build a society where justice is accessible to everyone and the rights of every individual are respected.
